A Little Bit About Me

Name: Christy Moormann
Location: The Beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Occupation: Executive Assistant, Student and Aspiring Web Designer

Background: I started to become interested in web design about seven years ago. I was doing mundane clerical work and felt like there had to be more for me. My mind was hungry to learn. It wasn't until three years ago that I decided to start school and learn a new trade. I kept wondering why I didn't start school sooner - like when I was fresh out of high school - but I had to remind myself that the web wasn't about style back then.

School has been wonderful for me. If I had a soapbox to stand on (and an audience, of course) I would be shouting out to everyone, "Pursue your dreams! Go back to school!" A mind truly is a terrible thing to waste and too many people are wasting away at boring desk jobs. But that's my humble opinion.

Progress: Amazingly, I have been able to accomplish projects while juggling school and a full-time job. It's amazing what you can do when you are operating within your "green light" area. By the way, a green light area is that project or task you can do until the wee hours of the morning until you absolutely can't keep your eyes open or sit up straight in your chair anymore. I must attribute this definition to my dear friend Linda who taught me, among other things, to never give up on your dreams or desires. I will continue to move forward, even if it kills me. Death is better than mediocrity! [dramatic pause].

Currently: I still have a ways to go with school. But in the meantime I've discovered a passion for clean, functional and intuitive web design. I'm excited for every opportunity to learn more, to help anyone who needs a "site-lift" (kind of like a face-lift), and to continue to improve my skills in web design and development.

What's New?

19 Sep 09: I'm back in school on Monday and looking forward to a very busy season! I'm currently going through a web design program at a local college. Having a full-time job and going to school can be challenging. But I've found that pursuing your dreams makes it all worthwhile!
